| Description The Norway Lemming (Lemmus lemmus) is a common species found in northern Scandinavia and north-western Russia. The Norway lemming dwells in tundra and fells, usually close to water sources. If the conditions are good, they can reach sexual maturity in a single month after birth, and produce a litter of 6-8 juveniles every month. Consequently the population of Norway lemmings can increase explosively in a very short period of time. This photography was taken near Sarek National Park and Aktse hut, while hiking the Kunsleden, where the density of lemmings was incredibly high.
